Symposia Newsletters
From ResNetWiki
Symposia Newsletters are simple conference update pages which help alert attendees about important events of the day, give them prep information for the following day, and capture some of the achievements and personality of the previous days.
Content
The content of the newsletters varies from one symposium to the next, but typically includes items such as the following:
- Reminders of important symposium guidelines, procedures, or policies;
- Modifications, corrections, or updates to the day's schedule;
- Important information about events;
- Up-coming Birds Of a Feather topics;
- "Heard in the Halls" quotes from the day before;
- Results of polls, contests, or surveys the day before;
- Weather forecasts;
- Announcements and messages from ResNet leadership to the attendees.
Format
At ResNet 2010, the decision was made to produce the newsletter electronically, as a two-page PDF e-mailed to attendees each morning, and in limited quantities as a two-sided single sheet in a protective sleeve, circulated around the breakfast dining room.
