Question 30

Keep. --Kguidry 17:46, 15 November 2007 (EST)

Discuss. Dfutey 00:00, 21 November 2007 (EST) Needs refined based on '05 stats. Brings up question of whether pipe size is important to know or more so how it is managed?

Discuss. Perhaps because I'm not a network person, but I think how managed seems more relevant. How often do others need to compare size to other institutions (and changes made because of it, rather than just taking stock of where you fall?) And maybe this is important to others and that's fine too. Canderer 14:34, 21 November 2007 (EST)

Discuss. Why are we not including Abilene etc? Our institution allows full bw access to Resnet to our Abilene connection at night -- how would we represent this? We're not the only ones. --Vpolichar 22:52, 27 November 2007 (EST)

eXpand. --Cpee 15:21, 30 November 2007 (EST) I think we want to know pipe size and managment.

Question 31

Expand. Need to change to two questions with the first asking "Is your resnet separate?" and the second "How much bandwidth?" --Kguidry 17:46, 15 November 2007 (EST)

Discuss. Needs refined based on '05 stats. Brings up question of whether pipe size is important to know or more so how it is managed? Dfutey 00:00, 21 November 2007 (EST)

Discuss. Same as ques 30. Canderer 14:37, 21 November 2007 (EST)

Expand. Agree with Kevin, plus we need to give lots more range to the answer here! --Vpolichar 22:53, 27 November 2007 (EST)

Expand. --Cpee 15:22, 30 November 2007 (EST)

Remove. Canderer 14:38, 21 November 2007 (EST)

Discuss - are trends interesting here? If not, remove. --Vpolichar 22:54, 27 November 2007 (EST)

Discuss. --Cpee 15:23, 30 November 2007 (EST) I think trends will be interesting here if another form of media becomes available.

Question 33

Keep. --Kguidry 17:46, 15 November 2007 (EST)

Discuss or Remove. Has this become more standard with time - still relevant? Canderer 14:43, 21 November 2007 (EST)

Discuss or Remove. Relevance and or finding some other way to determine if speed matters. Dfutey 21:37, 22 November 2007 (EST)

Discuss or Remove. --Vpolichar 22:54, 27 November 2007 (EST)

Discuss. --Cpee 15:25, 30 November 2007 (EST) Are we talking speed to the machine physially or if each student is allowed an upper limit. Further with media it may be interesting to keep this one.

Question 34

Keep. --Kguidry 17:46, 15 November 2007 (EST)

Discuss or Remove. Is there less upgrading wired networks going on and more adding wireless? Maybe a lot of these details re: wired can now be removed and we replace with wireless. Canderer 14:44, 21 November 2007 (EST)

Remove. I think there are better strategic plan questions we could muster. Dfutey 21:38, 22 November 2007 (EST)

Remove. --Vpolichar 22:54, 27 November 2007 (EST)

Discuss. --Cpee 15:26, 30 November 2007 (EST) I think if we keep the one previous it is interesting to see how folks are handling this. I do not think wireless is ready to replace wired and we still encourage folks to use wired over wireless in the rooms while that may change in the next few years I think this is good to keep.

Question 37

Keep. --Kguidry 17:46, 15 November 2007 (EST)

Discuss. Reword? Does anyone use manual IPs? Answer choice "100% wireless" doesn't fit compared to other answer responses. Maybe rework question(s) to find out how people are coping with multiple devices that need to connect? Canderer 14:52, 21 November 2007 (EST)

Remove. Dfutey 21:41, 22 November 2007 (EST)

Question 44

Discuss. Given the wide variance between the respondents' job responsibilities and experience levels, I assert that this question has severe validity issues. It might be suitably modified to remove the "strategic plan" aspect and limit the question while still retaining its intent and spirit. --Kguidry 17:46, 15 November 2007 (EST)

Remove maybe Discuss. Dfutey 00:06, 21 November 2007 (EST)

Remove. I don't know that strategic plans will be all that different in most places - wireless use and demand continues to grow and institutions have to deal with it. I don't think this produces meaningful info. If validity is an issue, more reason to ditch. Canderer 15:14, 21 November 2007 (EST)

Question 45

Discuss. Do we want to ask any followup questions similar to what we asked in last year's security survey? (Probably not; don't want to increase survey length). --Kguidry 17:46, 15 November 2007 (EST)

Discuss. With this and others in this survey the questions comes--do we or our viewers need to see the trend. Dfutey 00:08, 21 November 2007 (EST)

Discuss. Ditto what Dave said. Does it make sense to ask about securing APs?(or maybe that's in the security section - I haven't gotten there yet.) Canderer 15:18, 21 November 2007 (EST)

General comments

Did we agree to drop "Network" from this section? Canderer 14:30, 21 November 2007 (EST)

I think we should. Infrastructure is not a limiting term. Dfutey 21:42, 22 November 2007 (EST)
